Speedlock® Ratchet Handle Disassembly

AED’s Speedlock® laparoscopic instruments are comprised of 3 parts:
1. An insulated shaft
2. A jaw insert
3. A ratchet handle

To disassemble:
1. Press down on the metal lever and fully extend the handles.
2. Twist the blue lock nut clockwise to unthread the shaft from the handle.
3. Take the shaft out of the handle.
4. Hold the shaft steady and twist the jaw clockwise to unthread it from the shaft.
5. Pull the jaw out of the shaft.

Speedlock® Ratchet Handle Assembly

AED’s Speedlock® laparoscopic instruments are comprised of 3 parts:
1. An insulated shaft
2. A jaw insert
3. A ratchet handle

To assemble:
1. Slide the jaw insert into the insulated shaft.
2. Hold the shaft as you twist the jaw counterclockwise.
3. Confirm assembly by gently tugging on the jaw and the shaft. Both pieces should be secured into place.
4. Fully extend the handle by pressing down on the metal lever and allowing the handles to come apart.
5. Insert the shaft into the fully extended handle and apply pressure as you twist the blue lock nut counterclockwise to thread it.
6. Confirm the lock nut is threaded tightly and confirm assembly by opening and closing the jaw with the handle.
7. Lock the handle by flipping the metal lever and closing the handles till they lock.
8. Lastly, actuate the handle and jaw prior to surgery.

Speedlock® Standard Handle Disassembly

AED’s Speedlock® laparoscopic instruments are comprised of 3 parts:
1. An insulated shaft
2. A jaw insert
3. A standard handle

To disassemble:
1. Fully extend the handle.
2. Hold the blue lock nut and turn it clockwise to unthread the shaft.
3. Once the shaft is unthreaded, pull it out of the handle.
4. With the jaw closed, hold the shaft steady and twist the jaw clockwise to unthread it from the shaft.
5. Lastly, pull the jaw out of the shaft.

Speedlock® Standard Handle Assembly

AED’s Speedlock® laparoscopy instruments are comprised of 3 parts:
1. An insulated shaft
2. A jaw insert
3. A standard handle

To assemble:
1. Slide the jaw insert into the insulated shaft.
2. Hold the shaft as you twist the jaw counterclockwise.
3. Tug on the handle and shaft to confirm assembly. Both pieces should be secured into place.
4. Insert the shaft into the handle and thread it clockwise. Twist the blue lock nut to tighten it and then shaft will be secured.
5. Confirm assembly by opening and closing the jaw with the handle.
6. Actuate the jaw and handle prior to surgery.
